Fri, April 24, 8pm
Eli Winter: 8pm
Rob Noyes: 8:40pm
“ROB NOYES has been on the Eastern Massachusetts scene for a while, but what we’ve heard him play is music from within the context of electric bands, most of whom are loud as hell and exist somewhere along the rim of the post-core continuum. More recently, Rob has taken to displaying his solo acoustic guitar chops and they are massive….. Rob’s playing carries the weight of many possibly-imaginary forebears, but the way he smears them all together shows a holistic mastery of touch and imagination that defies a lot of today’s players, who tend to shine in short bursts, then allow their dreams to outrun their technique.” —Byron Coley
Eli Winter is a guitarist based in Chicago, featured as an artist to watch for 2020 by The Guardian and named a "generational talent" by Daniel Lynch. His music is masterfully composed, moving between 6-string, 12-string and lap guitars in open tunings to mature, cathartic and deeply soothing effects. His first record, The Time To Come, was released on Blue Hole Recordings in 2019. Winter began recording sessions in Houston immediately after Hurricane Harvey, and the album’s turbulent emotional landscape is in some ways a response to the devastation of the storm.
Eli has performed composed and improvised music with Daniel Bachman, Tyler Damon, Jaime Fennelly, Ara Hanissian, Cameron Knowler, Matthew J. Rolin, Tara Jane O’Neil and Sam Wagster. He’s presented music at Constellation, Rhizome, Trans-Pecos, the Empty Bottle, Starlight Theater and Logan Center for the Arts, among others. He’s toured the East Coast, Midwest, Texas and California, and maintains a regular performance schedule in Chicago.
This will take place on Facebook Live. Accessible via facebook.com/rhizomedc (if you have a FB account) and facebook.com/rhizomedc/live (whether or not you have a FB account).
