This 6 week program is for high-school aged students who are interested in exploring experimental approaches to creative writing. We will learn to use various prompts, techniques, and constraints in order to generate content that will surprise us. We will discuss how the experiments affect individual participants' creative output in order to discover what works best. Time will be spent having fun with methods meant to expand the possibilities of language and meaning. This program is for anyone with an interest in writing creatively. 

Leslie Bumstead is a poet born and raised in Washington DC. Her book of poems, Cipher/Civilian (Edge Books) came out in 2006. Her work has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies. She teaches literature and writing in the DC area.

Creative Writing Lab meets on Wednesday afternoons beginning November 4 from 4-5:30pm at Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring. The cost for the full six-week session is $90. Individual session 'drop-ins' also available!
