Women Uncorked is a gathering for women only, talking about sex - the science, the social, the politics, the personal. It's a safe place to break free of cultural taboos on talking honestly and personally about sexual topics; a place to laugh and enjoy talking about sex in a group with no judgement -- and no one saying "that's TMI!"
What to expect: Eight to 20 women, strangers before they walked through the door, gathered together to talk about sex. For some, the fact that we are strangers is oddly freeing. Others don't have the kind of friends that care to delve into intimate details. Others are just here for the wine and conversation! We introduce ourselves briefly, then everyone has an opportunity to write down on index cards something they want to talk about: personal questions, issues, problems, successes, pet peeves, scientific findings, observations, or current events. Then we draw the cards out at random and talk. Simple as that. We will also take a bit of time to participate in an on-going creative project that seeks to document and visualize the range and diversity of women's sexual preferences. Don't worry - it's fun and easy!
Who to expect: Smart women who like to talk, from every age group, a range of cultures and orientations, with varying relationship styles, statuses and perspectives, emphasizing respect and inclusivity. Join us!
As always, I'll have a small amount of mediocre wine to share - feel free to bring your own beverage. And thank you all for your generous donations of only $10 to support Rhizome, which provides us with this great space, cozy and private, where we can stay as late as we want!
