Humanitarian Clowning is back, as a one-day workshop designed to give a strong foundation in humanitarian clowning. Deriving from the European clown tradition which emphasizes connecting to our shared humanity through both humor and pathos, Humanitarian Clowning is about bringing joy to people in need in a fun, sensitive and caring way. It also involves creating a unique clown personality that is an extension of your own. Let your inner clown come out while giving back to your community and having lots of fun in the process.
Topics covered in this workshop include:
- games and exercises designed to create a strong group dynamic, communicate through gesture and movement, and instill greater confidence in your clowning repertoire.
- developing your own clown personality
- a discussion of clown fashion and accessories
- the ins and outs of humanitarian clowning.
The workshop is open to all ages- no prior experience necessary! Upon completion of this workshop you should feel confident to clown on actual humanitarian visits that the group will undertake.
