A slower-music ensemble - under the direction of JS Adams - comprised of cello, guitars, electronics, voice, Morse code, text-to-voice programming, static visuals, prepared vinyl + vintage Califone turntables present an audio-visual examination based on the 27 August 1955 Standard Oil refinery explosion, Whiting Indiana.
[S]omething had gone horribly wrong at the Standard Oil refinery..."The end of the world," as one witness described it...The deafening explosion crushed nearby houses, broke windows miles away and hurtled steel fragments into nearby homes. The fireball spawned a towering mushroom cloud visible for 30 miles. Walls of flame burned out of control. [The Chicago Tribune]
"I thought the sun had exploded..." [The Times of Northwest Indiana]
