Robert Redford narrates this documentary about the Pine Ridge Shootout on an Oglala Sioux reservation in South Dakota. On June 26, 1975, two FBI agents are searching for American Indian Movement member Leonard Peltier, wanted in connection with an assault. They are killed after coming under heavy fire, presumably from Peltier and his accomplices. Peltier is still doing time for the crime today, but Michael Apted’s documentary reopened the case and opened a lot of eyes to both the abysmal conditions on the reservation and the dubious claims that Peltier’s snowjob trial had served the cause of justice.
