WHISPERS OF NIGHT (Atlanta) is an acoustic experimental improvisation duo featuring Majid Araim and Benjamin Shirley on a variety of instruments and timbres. Formed in early 2014 in Atlanta, the duo focuses on creative expression, respect, and collaborative exploration of sound.

AARON MARTIN & IAN MCCOLM - Alto saxophonist Aaron Martin has for decades been a fixture of D.C.’s free jazz community. Raised and steeped in the tradition of bebop, Aaron also had the experience of performing with Anthony Braxton and studying with Jimmy Lyons, two icons of avant-garde saxophone. An activist and organizer, Martin is determined to instill his music with the radical and revolutionary message that he developed through his experiences in the movements of the 1960s and ’70s. Ian McColm is a multi-instrumentalist and composer residing in Alexandria, Virginia. He has performed nationally and internationally in a variety of ensembles with the likes of guitarist Daniel Bachman, New York saxophonist James Brandon Lewis, and Bhutanese guitar improviser Tashi Dorji.
