BLK TAG are a collaborative effort between JS Adams (BLK w/BEAR) and Chris Videll (Tag Cloud) first created for Long Division with Remainders’ Collision/Detection project on Manchester UK label Front & Follow. The duo has since released music on the Zeromoon net label, District of Noise, Trace Recordings, ŌNYŪDŌ, and also delivered remixes for prog metal band VLY and local musician/percussionist Jason Mullinax.

BLK TAG are now proud to announce a special multi-speed 12-inch red vinyl extended play, IMPACTED WISDOM, on Fuzzy Panda Recording Company. The EP features additional sounds from Guillermo Pizarro, Gleb Kanasevich, and Doug Poplin (BLK w/BEAR). UK artist/musician K Craig has also created a film for the track, K231 (youtu.be/4Lj4lKF1mso). The record was engineered by Rich Morel // Pink Noise Studio, Takoma Park MD and mastered by Mark L. Beazley // Trace Recordings, London. For this special record release performance on Saturday 01 April, BLK TAG will perform two new pieces for prepared vinyl + live electronics (THESE FOOLISH THINGS REMIND ME OF YOU // EUGENE BERTRAM KRUPA plays JERICHO). Their set will also include the premiere of two new films by K Craig for the EP cut THEETH and download bonus track RECHORDIO, for which BLK TAG will add soundtrack embellishments.

Matt Wellins (b. 1983) builds analog electronic instruments. This work is influenced by the materially contumacious practices of David Tudor and Michael Johnsen and emphasizes the particularities of electronic components, the snafus of live performance, and general ambivalence toward commercial equipment.

Concurrently, Wellins fosters interests in the experimental loft theater of 1970s New York, early American shape-note singing, and magnetic recording for reasons not altogether unrelated from the above. Wellins has presented his work--most notably in collaboration with 16mm filmmaker Sarah Halpern--at venues such as Anthology Film Archives and EMPAC. Along with Johnsen, he maintains the Electronic Music Resource at Ubu.com.

Sarah Halpern works with film, performance, sound, text and paper, addressing the difficulties in understanding oneself and other people. Her work questions conventional human relationships to vision, hearing, reading and communicating and has been presented at The Kitchen, Experimental Intermedia, The Museum of Moving Image, Anthology Film Archives, ((audience)) Sound Off, and Microscope Gallery, among others. She is a founding member of Optipus Film Group (with Lary 7, Bradley Eros and others) and has collaborated extensively with electronic musician Matt Wellins. Halpern lives and works in Queens, NY.
