Ben Richter is a Berlin-based composer, accordionist, and director of New York's Ghost Ensemble. His work explores the perceptual experience of music through subtly shifting timbres and sliding microtonal fluctuations that combine to create sound-worlds of constant transformation. A student of Pauline Oliveros and Deep Listening, he is also an improviser and klezmer accordionist. He holds degrees from Bard College and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he researched time distortion and parahypnotic phenomena in music.
His newest work, "Panthalassa: Dream Music of the Once and Future Ocean", transforms prepared microtonal accordion into the voice of the primordial Earth-wide ocean, conjuring alien worlds with shimmering just-intonation harmonies and sliding, moaning melodies that zoom in and out of the droning sonic abyss.

Jacob Becker (NYC) - Influenced by the maximalist sampling techniques of the 90s — from The Bomb Squad to Skinny Puppy — Jacob Becker's work is an exercise in controlled chaos. Combining sound design and composition, Jacob stacks and teases out samples to create an unexpected musical logic, revealing the strange joy to be found in re-arranging a cloud of musical fragments into a new, cohesive whole. Through this process, Becker attempts to make palpable the alienating and exhilarating emotional effects of a life filtered through technology.
