You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I’m telling you why
#txtshow’s coming back to town

That’s right! #txtshow is back in a whole new format – Santa!

#merrytxtmas is a brand new holiday variant of one of Brian Feldman’s most famous performances, #txtshow (which remains the longest running independent production in D.C. theater history). For this twelfth day of Christmas matinee performance, all audience members will keep their phones “on” – as a mysterious character named txt (pronounced ‘text’) dressed as Santa Claus recites anonymous real-time tweets written by YOU, live and in-person.

Santa instructs that you please bring your smartphone, ideally fully-charged, and actively use it during the show’s 45 minute duration. It is not necessary to have a Twitter account in order to participate, as everyone in attendance is randomly assigned a protected and anonymous account for their use.

Based entirely upon what the audience writes in anonymity, #merrytxtmas may contain mature themes, profane language, and explicit sexual content. *It’s definitely not for kids!*

Milk, cookies, and candy canes will be served. #HoHoHo!

“#txtshow delivers all the breathless, anything-can-happen anticipation and nervous laughter of an improv show, but without any of the pressure to make a funny that makes a crappy improv troupe so agonizing to watch. Like a sex party, it was both exhilarating and exhausting, and it seemed to work best when we all synced our wavelengths. But at times, it was even more fun to just sit back and watch.” (Christina Cauterucci, Arts Editor – Washington City Paper)
