Diploplia: Asher Herzog (b. 1995) is a Baltimore based drummer, composer and improviser whose primary interest lies at the intersection of composition and improvisation. An active leader and sideman, Herzog approaches every performance with the intent of creating powerful moments within the ensemble. His diverse musical output as a performer is pervaded by his grounding in technique and style, compositional approach to improvising, and his unrelenting search for new and exciting sonic territory. As a bandleader, he strives to inspire the ensemble with compelling compositions that serve to inspire and inform the unraveling improvisation. His method of composition allows himself to express his artistic idea, as well as providing an egalitarian music environment that makes the other members of the ensemble invested in its execution. He has performed with Tim Berne, Dave Ballou, Drew Gress, Ellery Eskelin, John Dierker, Derrick Michaels, and Adam Hopkins, among many others.
JARRETT GILGORE // multi-instrumentalist, composer, improviser, teacher, residing in Baltimore. Often seen performing with Heart of the Ghost, Anthony Pirog, Anna Crooks, Anna Roberts-Gevalt, Chris Pumphrey. Has performed/recorded with many amazing musicians including Jaimie Branch,Tony Malaby, Tashi Dorji, Lonnie Holley, Susan Alcorn, Laraaji, Michael Formanek, and bands such as Anna & Elizabeth, Dan Deacon Ensemble, Cass McCombs Band, and Rubblebucket.
He will perform a solo set on organ and woodwinds.
