Concert: Jon Camp (Record Release) / Amadou Kouyate / Pergola

Jon Camp is a fingerstyle guitarist and composer from the DC region. On Jon's upcoming third album, "Headwinds & Tailwinds," Jon builds off the structure of American Primitive Guitar and applies it to an electric full-band setting, encompassing psychedelia, country, drone, and more. For this record release show at Rhizome, Jon will be playing with long-time collaborator Nick Arrivo on bass, Ryan Peterson on drums, Jamie Linder (Crooks & Crows) on pedal steel, Dave Jones (The Caribbean) on guitar, and Harvey Droke on accordion.

Amadou Kouyate (DC) is the 150th generation of the Kouyate lineage and has studied and performed Manding music since the age of three years old. Amadou is a dynamic djembe and koutiro drummer. He also plays the 21-string kora, which he learned first with his father, Djimo Kouyate and other master Diali --oral historians/musicians-- of Manding tradition in West Africa.

Pergola is the work of Baltimore-based fingerstyle guitarist Todd Shelar. His music is influenced by American Primitive Guitar players, impressionism, minimalism and various folk and world music traditions. Pergola's most recent album, 'So Long (not Goodbye)' was released in November 2015
