The DC LOVE ORCHESTRA is an ensemble concept rooted in melodic interpretation, improvisational inclusiveness, and socio-spiritual communication. For this International Jazz Day performance, the ensemble will present compositions written by Jazz musicians who have Native American Indian heritage, including Don Cherry, Oscar Pettiford, Jim Pepper, Larry Redhouse, and others. The core ensemble consists of Charles Rahmat Woods (Roy Haynes, Don Cherry, Tarika Blue) -flutes/sax, with regional musicians Peter Frassrand-keyboards and Gus Johnson-drums, and special guests.
