Introduction to Weaving
This class is great for ages 6 and up (smaller hands may need adult assistance). You'll start with basic terminology, learn a few different weaving techniques, and leave the class with your own handwoven wall hanging. You'll have access to a variety of handspun yarns, handdyed wool locks, and other materials that make beautiful textures with even the most simple plain weave. All the tools and supplies you'll need are included, and you're welcome to bring anything else you'd like to incorporate, like ribbons, feathers, paper, fabric scraps.... You'll keep the tools you use (including cardboard loom and tapestry needle) so you can continue making pieces for yourself or for gifts. Additional yarn/fiber will be available for purchase after class.
Kathryn White turned her lifelong love of all things yarn into her own small fiber art business: The Yarnicorn. She dabbles in many disciplines (knitting, spinning, dyeing, crochet, weaving, and felting, just to name a few), and loves bringing new fiber artists into the fold. Her art usually starts with raw wool, and she's especially interested in preserving endangered and heritage sheep breeds. You can find her most recent projects on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theyarnicorn/
