ONLINE WORKSHOP: Turn Anything Into a MIDI Controller

Sunday May 3 * 1-6pm * REGISTER
***TURN ANYTHING INTO A MIDI CONTROLLER!!!***

This workshop will teach you how you can use Arduino-based microcontrollers to build your own custom accelerometer-based MIDI controllers. You will learn how to program your MIDI controller to control synths, trigger samples, and more - all controlled by your own movement!

**You need an Arduino board in order to participate. Available to order here: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/adafruit-industries-llc/3333/1528-2280-ND/7310913

Attendees will also need to "bring" a computer (Apple/OSX or PC/Windows) as well as one object you'd like to turn into a motion-based MIDI controller. (You can use the same computer to access the Zoom meeting, or do Zoom separately on your phone.) Think about how you'd like to move the object around and how you'd like the sound to be modified by that movement (change in volume, pitch, etc.). This workshop aims to give you a solid foundation in the tools you need to create your own MIDI controller.

About the Instructor: Peter Serano is a multi-instrumentalist musician with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering and over 10 years of experience designing and prototyping custom electronic audio circuits.

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO SUPPORTING RHIZOME DURING THIS TIME OF PHYSICAL CLOSURE. PLEASE RSVP HERE AND DONATE IF YOU'RE ABLE. (BUT NO DONATION IS REQUIRED TO RSVP OR TO PARTICIPATE.) THANK YOU.
