Insights and Reflections from an Intrepid Psychedelic Researcher: Lecture and Discussion
Talk by William Richards from the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he has been contributing to psilocybin research for the past two decades. The talk will be followed by community discussion and dialogue with Dr. Richards. Attendees are invited (but of course not required) to prepare for the discussion by reading Dr. Richards’ 2015 book, Sacred Knowledge: Psychedelics and Religious Experiences, which is available in multiple formats from Amazon and Columbia University Press: http://cup.columbia.edu/book/sacred-knowledge/9780231174060
Bill is a psychologist who has been involved in legal research with psychedelic substances and human volunteers since he was a graduate student in Germany in 1963. His experience includes psychotherapy research with LSD, DPT, MDA and psilocybin, including protocols designed to investigate the promise of psychedelics in the treatment of alcoholism, depression, narcotic addiction and the psychological distress often associated with terminal cancer, as well as their use with healthy volunteers and in the training of religious and mental health professionals. Join us for a stimulating conversation.
