Aiming to invoke a spirit that summer brings, Agua Parada is a curatorial project constructed to reproduce the feeling of sweat building on your upper lip. Agua Parada translates roughly to still water, or stagnant water, from Portuguese. The term first came into my consciousness when I was a kid in Brazil, and the TV would play PSA’s about getting still-water treated with chlorine to prevent dengue mosquitos from laying eggs. This exhibition is about the still water that sits in a tire, festering, letting bacteria grow.
Featuring artists: Natalie Ochoa, Daniel Elder, SollikeSoul, Emma Hendry, Tam-anh Nguyen, Em Aull, Chris Lloyd, Elisa Muthig, Fabiola Ching, and Ja Coalition for Sustainability.
