Christopher Tignor is a composer, violinist, lecturer, and software engineer. His emotionally charged scores and unique focus on live, performance-based electroacoustic practice has won acclaim within both the classical and experimental communities across 9 LPs on the Western Vinyl and New Albion record labels. He creates the live performance software he uses, shared freely. As a composer he has written and recorded work for ensembles including The Knights, A Far Cry string orchestra, and Brooklyn Rider string quartet, performing alongside them at premiere venues including Carnegie's Zankel Hall. As a string arranger he has worked with Helios, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, John Congleton, This Will Destroy You, Meshell Ndegeocello, and several other artists at the boundaries of popular music.
Hotel Neon is the Philadelphia-based trio of Michael Tasselmyer, Andrew Tasselmyer, and Steven Kemner. Together they create music to get lost in: cavernous, reverberating guitars and synthesizers, matched with visual projections to create an immersive audio/visual experience. Since forming in early 2013, the group has released 7 full-length albums and several EPs. Hotel Neon has toured and collaborated with the likes of Benoit Pîoulard, The Sight Below, Simon Scott, and Marcus Fischer, filling everything from living rooms to cathedrals with their densely layered walls of sound.
Requiem is the cinematic, neo-classical, ambient focused, post-rock project of Tristan Welch (Guitar, Electronics) and Douglas Kallmeyer (Bass, Electronics, Production) out of Washington D.C. Together these artists create strikingly powerful instrumental music filtered through a prism both haunting and gorgeous. A masterful fusion of their cinematic and minimal strengths - long-form pieces swell and sway between ambient, drone, neo-classical, and psychedelic zones for a sound that serves as a reflection of the musician’s desire for connection amidst an apocalyptic, harrowing, and dramatic backdrop.
Requiem condenses the experience of Douglas’ masterful Audio Enginering career (Blonde Redhead, Shellac, Rancid, Phantogram and more); his label head experience (Verses Records) and artistic activism with Tristan’s non-stop approach to releasing DIY records – focused alterative guitar compistions compared to Noveller and Tim Hecker (most notably 40 Hours, Ambient Distress and Temporary Preservation).
