An Afternoon of Exploratory Guitar

Pergola is the work of Baltimore-based fingerstyle guitarist Todd Shelar. His music is influenced by American Primitive Guitar players, impressionism, minimalism, Renaissance through Modern classical guitar and various folk music traditions. For Pergola’s Rhizome set, music from a new body of work titled “Moon Glows The Same” will be performed.

Kevin Coleman is an American Primitive guitarist currently living in Nashville, TN. His fingerpicking style derives primarily from a convergence of Old-time music, seasonal depression, and long walks by a creek.

Doug Kallmeyer is a musician, composer, and sound designer. His current focus is tenor guitar, the early 1900’s 4-string instrument that takes tenor banjo tunings and applies them to a wooden guitar format, applying clean fingerpicking and arrangements derived from folk and Appalachian music with electronics and improvisational deconstruction, maximizing the minimal nature of the instrument.

Jon Camp is a guitarist and composer from the Washington, DC region. On Headwinds & Tailwinds, Jon takes a fingerstyle approach to guitar and applies it to a full band setting, encompassing psychedelia, country, drone, and more. For his set at Rhizome, Jon will perform pieces for solo guitar and small ensemble.
