RHIZOME CELEBRATION

zome email headersquare.jpg

In August 2020, we received news of a plan to redevelop the historic house we lease. The process is taking longer than we had initially anticipated, but it does loom on the horizon. Eventually, probably early next year, we will have to move. The exact date and destination of our relocation are as yet unknown.

In the meantime, over the next few weeks we are preserving and celebrating our community as it has existed thusfar through interactive exhibitions, performances, and oral history recordings.

View highlights from oral history interviews with Rhizome community members Layne, Jude, Luke, Laura, Bobby, Sarah, Thomas, Leslie, Steve, Wendy, Khalid, Peter, and Pat. Interviews are conducted by Tatev and videographed by Mai. This project, titled “Where Is My Place? Experimental Arts Community Building and Re-building in Washington DC,” was made possible with support from Humanities DC and DC Oral Histories Collaborative.

Visit exhibitions about the Rhizome story so far, on processes of awe and becoming a landscape, and record your memories of and visions for the future of Rhizome. How do we build on what we have, and how do we take Rhizome out into the world?
