Friday August 27 * doors at 630pm * outside at Rhizome * TICKETS

Heumann Highway: Dave Heumann (of Arbouretum, guitar), Mike Kuhl (drums), and Matt Davenport (sampler). Playing improvised music connecting trails, roads, streams, and rivers.

Jon Camp Band: Jon Camp is a guitarist and composer based in the DC region. On Headwinds & Tailwinds, Jon takes a fingerstyle approach to guitar and applies it to a full band setting. Writer Byron Coley said the album was fluent "in a wide variety of styles, from American Primitive to avant. Ace small group dynamism." For his set at Rhizome, Jon will be in a band setting with Nick Arrivo on bass, Matthew Byars on drums, Jamie Linder on pedal steel, and Dave Jones on guitar.

Attorneys General: Attorneys General is Matthew Byars of DC band The Caribbean. AG is inspired by soundman Martin Swope of Mission of Burma on their seminal 1985 live record, The Horrible Truth About Burma, in which Swope, using a reel-to-reel tape machine, captured, looped, manipulated, and destroyed elements of the band’s sound in spontaneous and unexpected ways. Byars has adapted this approach to having one-four people (different players every time, mostly) generate utterly improvised sound through a mixing board he controls, which allows him to capture, loop, manipulate, and destroy the sounds they create. Guest sound generator for this show will be Tim Baier (Roads to Space Travel, Tango Nectar Bravo).
