The works of Evie Metz & Nick Daly invite you to look inwards. This installation at Rhizome becomes an extension of the body, an animation in each room holding the weight of trauma, desire, curiosity, love, fear, and further politics of the personal. Through the seemingly safe space of plasticine, their works push boundaries of comfort and dig beneath the surface. In that potential discomfort, conversations may be provoked about why certain moments trigger us, how they affect us, and ultimately serve to deepen our understanding of the significance in being connected to our range of feelings with the intention for us to transcend them.
Evie Metz and Nick Daly collaborate in creating short stop-frame films. Evie Metz is a film photographer and self-taught animator. She received her Bachelors in Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her Masters in Fine Art from Virginia Commonwealth University. Nicholas Daly is a visual artist, sound designer, and self-taught composer. He received his Bachelors in Fine Art in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Both artists currently reside in Richmond, VA.
