Essential Tremors presents...
caroline began in early 2017, evolving out of weekly improvisation sessions. Band members brought together their shared influences, including Midwestern emo, Appalachian folk, minimalist classical and various forms of electronic music, slowly expanding their ranks as the songs developed. Rough Trade released their debut single “Dark blue” in March 2020, and the eight-piece were nominated as Ones To Watch at the 2020 AIM Awards where they were narrowly beaten by Arlo Parks. A second single ‘Skydiving onto the library roof’ followed in May 2021.
Jon Camp is a fingerstyle guitarist and composer from the Washington, DC region. Jon blends twang, drone, and melody into a coherent whole that is exploratory without forsaking the hook. Of Jon’s recent self-titled release on Centripetal Force, Andy French of Raven Sings the Blues said, "From fingerpicked folk to broken dawn blues, glycerine Loren Conners contemplation, bluegrass breezes and non-trad tributaries, the album doesn’t settle. With so many muses, Jon keeps things from swerving between impulses, finding a common beam between the hues in his wheel of colors." For Jon’s Rhizome set, he'll perform in a duo setting with guitarist Dave Jones (The Caribbean).
