CONCERT: Magic Tuber Stringband / Weirs / Grand Banks

Tuesday March 8 * 7pm * MASKS, VAX REQUIRED * TICKETS

Magic Tuber Stringband is a Durham NC-based duo, made up of Evan Morgan and Courtney Werner. Their primary instruments are guitar and fiddle, but they are not married to these particular axes and follow their instincts when they feel other instruments are called for. Playing music with its bite rooted in the Piedmont tradition, Magic Tuber mostly write their own material, while exploring and expanding dynamics of string interaction that are as old as the hills.

Weirs is a Durham, NC based duo who blend traditional tunes, ballads, hymns, and instruments with an interest in drone, tape music, and long-form improvisation. They are inspired by and aspire to be counted among those practitioners that don't keep "traditional music" behind museum glass, but get it out and use it -- even if it might get dinged up.

Grand Banks (DC/VA) is Davis Salisbury and Tyler Magill. Improvisations on guitar, keyboards, harmonium, and assorted other instruments and objects. "Grand Banks build a sonic world out of equal parts earth-rattling drones and delicate cosmic lullabies ... feel the space around you sing as far-out harmonics shift in and out of focus." -- Mike Nigro, Oxtail Recordings
