The Electric Nature / Sunburned Hand of the Man / Blake Hornsby / Douglas Kallmeyer

Friday April 7 * 7pm * TICKETS

The Electric Nature are an experimental group of improvisers from Athens, GA that delve equally into psychedelic noise, dark & light ambient, free rock abandon, harsh drones, modular synthesis, and whatever else might pique their interest on any given day. The core group is Michael Potter (Serrater/Null Zone Tapes), Michael Pierce (sweetearthflying), and Thom Strickland (Smokedog). Their new album, 'Old World Dies Must', arrives March 17 from Feeding Tube Records and Null Zone Tapes, and features the saxophone talents of Jeff Tobias (Sunwatchers, Modern Nature), who will be joining them live on tour. For this little jaunt up and down the East Coast, the group will be a mostly electronic affair, with the core trio using a smattering of synths, pedals, samplers, drum machines, and other electronic gadgets, and Tobias playing his manipulated reeds on top.

"Sunburned Hand of the Man (aka "Sunburned") are a loose knit gang of musical artists from Boston, Massachusetts. Founded as a way to let off steam from years of obsessive weirdo record collecting and perversely decoding the hand jive of wanton talents from the psychedelic and punk rock hardcore scenes in the Boston zone, Sunburned was born to be awesome. The nucleus, [now based in Western Massachusetts] of the group is a small ragtag contingent of fascinants completely focused on the idea of spontaneous composition within the framework of religious experience: the rock n roll EVENT. Taking it to the stars to see where exactly the light comes from then surfing that beam straight to the O-mind where the kick drum becomes its own sentient nature's heartbeat. Through the years many a legend has passed time dusting their select broom in the delectable maelstrom grooves brought forth by the Sunburned van. They eat the road UP and leave the stage in ashes. Warriors, lovers - they get it on." - Thurston Moore

Blake Hornsby is a psychedelic folk musician born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, currently based out of Western North Carolina. Hornsby's work is influenced by psychedelia, folk, Indian classical music, Middle Eastern music, American primitive guitar, the avant-garde, and sound healing. Hornsby released his first professional solo instrumental album in February, 2021. This album exemplifies his advanced guitar skills and unique styles that have been compared to John Fahey and Robbie Basho. Australia’s up-and-coming record label, Ramble Records, financed its production on vinyl.

Douglas Kallmeyer is a musician, composer, and sound designer. His current focus is tenor guitar, the early 1900’s 4-string instrument that takes tenor banjo tunings and applies them to a wooden guitar format, applying clean fingerpicking and arrangements derived from folk and Appalachian music with electronics and improvisational deconstruction, maximizing the minimal nature of the instrument.
