The Remnant Project
Fossils, imprints and leftover objects such as pottery shards and beads can tell us much about the past, just as the leavings of today will be on this planet for generations to come, informing the future about our time.
Come by Rhizome on Sunday, June 4 from 12-1 pm to celebrate Caroline MacKinnon’s ongoing Remnant sculpture which will be on display and added to during the month of June.
If you’ve already made a Remnant, see if you can find it in the larger sculpture - or make more Remnants which will be added later in the month.
Constructed of glazed ceramic pieces impressed with natural and manufactured materials and bound together with wire, each Remnant was made by folks ages 3 to 83 in the DMV community.
Look for a pop-up Remnant-making station at Rhizome events – hope to see you soon!
