LA BOULANGERIE "Healthy Living" summer camp aims to build a foundation for health and well-being. This summer camp provides participants with a fun, creative, educational and enriching experience through food preparation, yoga movement and mindfulness activities, relaxation, crafts, and outdoor time.
The food preparation component aims to introduce heart healthy whole grains, such as kamut, millet, teff, spelt, rye, emmer, einkorn, buckwheat, amaranth, and sorghum. Students mill the grains into flours and, then use the flours to prepare afternoon snacks. Participants also enjoy making fruit and vegetable smoothies for the morning snack, they learn about essential nutrients in fresh produce and how directly they affect our health.
No artificial flavors or food coloring are consumed. For allergy purposes, the program can accommodate gluten, dairy and nut allergies.
Cost: $364 for 5 days; smoothies and baked snacks + all the materials needed for the activities are included. Participants bring their lunches. A nonrefundable 50% of the tuition ($182) has to be paid when enrolling, the rest will be paid when the camp starts.
