Creative writing workshop - Saturday April 18 - 2pm - REGISTER
One word summing up Yusuf Misdaq’s teaching in Creativity and Creative Writing could be diversity. He’s recently taught seniors at a new age center in Falls Church, high school students in Gaithersburg, and undergrads at Universities like NYU, GWU, the University of California Irvine, and the University of Brighton (UK). He even taught Creative Writing at an IT conferences in Austin, Texas in May 2019. This list is not given to impress, but rather to emphasize and showcase just how universal the desire and ability of people from all walks of life to express in words that is otherwise often a barely perceptible pulse of emotion, swelling silently in the undercurrents. To this end, Yusuf blends his own studies of ancient spiritual traditions (Sufism, a philosophy and meditation tradition largely developed in his ancestral home of Afghanistan) with his experiences as a writer (author of 3 novels and 7 poetry collections) to enable participants to tap into, and use, the essence of their present moment to generate powerful creative work.
