Jan Swinburne is a Canadian visual artist whose interdisciplinary practice makes use of traditional and digital media. Swinburne approaches all media from a painter’s sensibility, and this drives her aesthetic. At times, her work mutates into large-scale, site-sensitive installations and projects. An experimental approach to art is central to her practice. As a video artist, Swinburne’s interest is oriented to meta-exposure and the cultural and political implications of image degeneration. Swinburn will present Crackers (05:32) on 06 June.

A 2015 transplant to Baltimore from New Mexico’s rich experimental music scene, CK Barlow turns real-time and field recordings into performable solo pieces using a variety of hardware instruments, laptops and mobile devices. As an ensemble player, CK spent 14 years with the acclaimed avant-orchestral conduction-improv group Out of Context using a custom live-sampling setup. Other NM bands included Useless Eaters (w/JA Deane and DJ Ultraviolet), and mJane with Molly Sturges — along with a variety of rock, metal and salsa bands. She has scored two feature-length films and dozens of short films, theater productions and choreographic works; and has had music used in more than 200 different television series.

BLK w/BEAR “…are like Basic Channel at their most abstract, and after a serious nervous breakdown." (The Wire) Based in Washington DC, BLK w/BEAR first garnered glowing reviews and international airplay for the thought-provoking and moving Wish for a World without Hurt collaboration with London's Rothko. Their audio has accompanied film/video projects in NYC and London and selections from Wish for a World were used in the Discovery Channel's poignant The Flight that Fought Back program. Filmmaker H. Paul Moon / Zen Violence has used their music as soundtrack to his Walt Whitman trilogy. MO RE B ROKEN TH AN Y OU (LCR) is their most recent album, with additional tracks released on Front & Follow. Fuzzy Panda Recording Co., and Trace Recordings compilations. JS Adams has used the pandemic isolation to create archival reconstructions utilizing rediscovered backing tracks, three of those re-imagined tracks are being presented during QU2020 online.
