We'll talk about some wild foods of early-to-mid summer, covering some basic applied botany, identification, harvesting, preparing, preserving, and conservation. The geographic focus is on the mid-Atlantic region, but most of these plants are common throughout the eastern US, whether you're in the city or "out in the cut". This will include a variety of berries, among other deliciousness. I'll provide some direction for how you can teach yourself to know and use the plants in your area, and point you towards the learning resources that I have found most helpful. This workshop will be interactive, so bring your questions, and if there is a particular plant that you want to identify, bring a photo or a sample of it and I'll tell you if I know what it is.
