Adam Tinkle's Kitchen Sinkhole is a new multimedia trip through low-resolution, handcrafted virtual worlds, in a psychedelic-picaresque quest to locate the mythopoetic significance of illumination - the light in your screen and the light in you. With Adam as shepherd and tour guide, the show enrobes the body in an image world cobbled together from lens-based imagery, vintage video synths, and homebrewed feedback processes, as it flows through episodes of lyrical songcraft, woodwind-driven electro-jazz, and chugging arpeggiation. With its concept, sounds, and texts first collaged in former livestock barn in Lisbon PT and a public bathhouse in Portland ME, Kitchen Sinkhole continues Tinkle's exploration of what he calls "screenbathing" along a trajectory that has thus far included screen-sculptures, multichannel movies, one-on-one wellness treatments, and a projection-mapped village clock that has brought futuristic hourly belltower chiming, since late last year, to the central square of Troy, NY.
