Queering Sound Closing Night

Saturday June 17 * 7pm * TICKETS

Join us for the closing night party and concert for QUEERING SOUND ‘23 on June 17th at 7:00PM at Rhizome DC. QUEERING SOUND is a multifaceted arts festival of LGBTQIA+ artists/allies held annually in Washington DC.

Featuring performances by:

Boy Meets Pearl are your queer-fronted, oddly-orchestrated, post steampunk Daddy! Accordions, glockenspiels, autoharps and cellos take the lead in songs about time rifts, tiger sharks and all things odd and arcane.

de Roche digs into her raw emotionality to create an idiosyncratic style she bravely embraces. Her songs span multiple genres including R&B, Electro, Soul and Pop. de Roche serves up tender, yet strong songs based on real heartache and interpersonal relations. Liz is a queer, gender-fluid, lifelong student, lover and explorer of music. She makes meaningful music that impacts people on a deeply personal level.

Haircuts – let’s make it fem punk! Their queer/punk modus operandi is serving up raucous originals + lovable covers. They bring the glitz wave, you bring the dancing shoes.

Mx. Mundy serves New Wave Soul! A Space Glam look with a Punk Rock edge. With body-moving beats and soaring melodies, MUNDY will bet you lifted and make you dance it out. Upbeat and visually engaging, MUNDY is a theatrical rock experience. Their songs take you on a trip through space and time to a place where acceptance, passion and joy are the only reality. We are equally made of stardust, together we shine.

Teething Veils began in 2006 in Washington, DC, playing live shows at places from planetariums to their own living room at 611 Florida Ave. They have released five LPs (Velorio, 2013; Constellations, 2014; Sea and Sun, 2017; Canopy of Crimson, 2020; and, To Have and to Hold, 2022) and a 7” single (Dinner Date, 2015) through the artist-run DC-and-Santa-Fe-based collective Etxe Records. They have played live in 45 US states plus the District of Columbia, and two Canadian provinces. The members also play, or have played, in The Antiques, Daamsel, Kohoutek, The OSYX, Parlor Scouts, Prom Concussion, Seamstresses, Silo Halo, and Void Vision.
