Musical Haiku Writing Lab

Four Wednesdays, August 2-23 * 7-9pm * Ages 14 and up * REGISTER

ON AUGUST 16 THE HAIKU LAB WILL HAPPEN ONE BLOCK AWAY AT TAKOMA SPARK - 7112 WILLOW AVE, TAKOMA PARK - IN COLLABORATION WITH HOUSE OF MUSICAL TRADITIONS

Haikus are short poems - often three lines, usually not rhyming. The Musical Haiku Writing Lab will approach songwriting and performance with a tight and fun focus. Short form composition will let us pay close attention to many elements - lyric, melody, harmony, rhythm, meaning, and connection to the audience and fellow musicians. Expect plenty of positive and constructive feedback and collaboration.

Any instruments are welcome, including voice, to wrap your poems in. The goal will be for everyone to write and perform at least one haiku at each session. Bring pencil and paper and an open mind.

Dan Robinson is a local songwriter and musician with broad and deep experience in many forms of music.
