Rhizome is offering a special one week middle school film camp over spring break. Participants will create B-style low budget sci-fi/fantasy films in small production teams. Production teams will work with a local artist to conceptualize, design and create original costumes to be used in their films. This will be a very active hands-on fun learning experience in a friendly, accepting environment. Campers will learn to edit using Final Cut Pro X on Apple desktops. They will shoot their films using Canon camcorders and boom mics.
Camp participants will follow the three stages of production: pre-production, production and post-production. They’ll learn how to develop their own story ideas into short well-structured films using the standard screenplay format. We’ll explore story structure, theme, character development and different types of conflict as they craft their ideas into polished short sci-fi/fantasy films. At the end of the week, the films will be celebrated in a special screening at the Rhizome house and will be open to family and friends.
